Squarespace Pricing in 2026: Plans, Fees, and the Real Yearly Cost
Squarespace plans run from $19 to $99 a month on annual billing in the US, but the plan is only part of the bill. Here is every fee, and what a year really costs for a simple site, a booking business, and a small store.

Squarespace pricing in the US, as of October 2026, runs from $19 to $99 a month on an annual plan (Basic, Core, Plus, and Advanced), or $25 to $139 a month if you pay month to month, according to Style Factory's September 2026 breakdown and Playcode's October 2026 guide, which also lists the entry price at $19 a month billed annually. There is no free plan, only a 14-day free trial.
The plan is rarely the whole bill. Card processing, transaction fees on the cheapest plan, a domain after the first year, business email, and paid add-ons like Scheduling can double what you pay. Below are the current plans, every extra fee, what Black Friday promotions really change, and a worked yearly cost for three typical small businesses.
Prices change by country and over time. The figures here are US prices as published in September and October 2026. Squarespace may show you different numbers outside the US, so check squarespace.com/pricing before you buy.
Squarespace plans and prices in 2026
Squarespace moved from its old Personal and Business plans to four new plans, with the rollout finishing globally in February 2026, and US prices on three of the four plans reportedly rose 18% to 26% in July 2026, according to Beancount. That is why many pages still quote $16 for Basic: they were written before the increase.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually (per month) | Per year on annual billing | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $25 | $19 | $228 | A simple site, a few sales |
| Core | $39 | $29 | $348 | Most small businesses and small stores |
| Plus | $65 | $49 | $588 | Stores with higher sales, digital products |
| Advanced | $139 | $99 | $1,188 | High-volume stores and memberships |
US prices per Style Factory, updated September 2026.
What each plan adds
From Squarespace's pricing page, Style Factory, and Beancount:
- Basic: templates, up to 2 contributors, 30 minutes of video, selling products, services, content, and memberships, and a free domain for the first year on annual billing.
- Core: unlimited contributors, 5 hours of video, advanced analytics, CSS and JavaScript customization, shipping labels and carrier rates, automated tax, API integrations, and one free Google Workspace email account for the first year.
- Plus: lower digital content fees and lower card processing rates (see below). Beancount notes Plus is only offered where Squarespace Payments is available.
- Advanced: no digital content fee, unlimited video, and the lowest processing and tax-calculation rates.
How much is Squarespace per month: monthly vs annual billing
Paying month to month costs noticeably more. On Basic you pay $25 a month instead of $19, which is $300 a year instead of $228. On Advanced the gap is $1,668 versus $1,188 a year. In other words, annual billing saves you roughly 24% to 29% depending on the plan.
Annual billing also unlocks the free first-year domain. The catch: you pay the full year up front, and you are committed for the year.
Squarespace transaction fees and payment processing
If you sell anything, two separate fees apply to each sale: a Squarespace transaction fee (on some plans), and a card processing fee from Squarespace Payments, Stripe, or PayPal.
| Plan | Transaction fee: physical products and services | Transaction fee: digital content and memberships | Squarespace Payments card rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 2% | 7% | 2.9% + 30¢ |
| Core | 0% | 5% | 2.9% + 30¢ |
| Plus | 0% | 1% | 2.7% + 30¢ |
| Advanced | 0% | 0% | 2.5% + 30¢ |
Transaction fees from Squarespace and Beancount; card rates from Style Factory.
Core and above also charge a small fee for automated tax calculation: 0.15% on Core and 0.05% on Advanced, capped at $0.99 per transaction, per Squarespace's pricing page.
When does upgrading pay for itself?
The fees make the math simple:
- Basic to Core: Core costs $120 a year more and removes the 2% fee. It pays for itself once you sell more than $6,000 a year in physical products or services.
- Core to Plus: Plus costs $240 a year more and saves 0.2% on card processing. That only pays off above about $120,000 a year in card sales, unless you sell digital content, where the fee drops from 5% to 1%.
- Plus to Advanced: $600 a year more for another 0.2%: about $300,000 a year in card sales before it pays off on processing alone.
If you sell courses, downloads, or memberships, look hard at the digital fee: 7% on Basic is a large cut of every sale.
Squarespace domain, email, and add-on costs
These are the extras most people forget to budget for:
- Domain: free for the first year on annual plans, if you register it within the first year of your subscription; it then renews at the standard rate (Squarespace). Expect roughly $20 to $70 a year depending on the extension (Beancount). You can also connect a domain you already own.
- Business email: Squarespace sells Google Workspace, from about $7 per user per month for the Starter tier, paid for the year (Spark). Core and above include one mailbox free for the first year.
- Squarespace Scheduling (appointments): Starter $20 a month ($16 billed annually) for one bookable calendar, Standard $34 ($27) for up to 6, Premium $61 ($49) for up to 36 (Style Factory).
- Email Campaigns (newsletters): from $12 a month for 500 emails, up to $169 a month for 500,000; annual billing reduces these by 30% (Style Factory).
- Premium fonts, plugins, and custom code: $0 to $200 for fonts and assets, $20 to $300 for plugins, and $50 to $500 for custom code work, according to Golden Launch Creative.
Squarespace Black Friday: what promotions really change
Squarespace is already running early Black Friday promotions: Cybernews reported in October 2026 up to 29% off annual plans. Offers change week to week, so check the pricing page for what is live when you buy.
Two things to check before you buy:
- Compare it to the normal annual price. "Up to 29% off" is about the same as the usual gap between monthly and annual billing ($139 vs $99 a month on Advanced). If you were going to pay annually anyway, the saving may be smaller than it looks.
- Check what you pay at renewal. Promotions on website builders usually apply to the first term only. Budget for year two at the standard price from the pricing page, not the promotional one.
A promotion is a good reason to buy a plan you have already chosen. It is not a reason to choose a bigger plan than you need.
What a Squarespace website really costs per year: three examples
All three examples use annual billing and US prices from the sections above. They exclude your own time and any designer.
1. A simple business website
A consultant or tradesperson with a few pages, a contact form, and one email address.
| Item | Year 1 | Year 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Basic plan | $228 | $228 |
| Domain | $0 (included) | ~$20 |
| Google Workspace, 1 user | ~$84 | ~$84 |
| Total | ~$312 | ~$332 |
2. A service business with online booking
A salon or clinic with up to 6 staff calendars and two mailboxes.
| Item | Year 1 | Year 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Core plan | $348 | $348 |
| Scheduling Standard (annual) | $324 | $324 |
| Domain | $0 (included) | ~$20 |
| Google Workspace, 2 users | ~$84 (one free) | ~$168 |
| Total | ~$756 | ~$860 |
3. A small online store
A shop selling $36,000 a year of physical products ($3,000 a month, 720 orders of about $50), with a monthly newsletter.
| Item | Year 1 | Year 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Core plan | $348 | $348 |
| Card processing (2.9% + 30¢) | ~$1,260 | ~$1,260 |
| Email Campaigns, 500 emails (annual) | ~$101 | ~$101 |
| Domain and 1 mailbox | $0 (included) | ~$104 |
| Total | ~$1,709 | ~$1,813 |
Card processing is the biggest line here, and it applies wherever you sell online; the Shopify fees breakdown shows the same pattern. On Basic, the same store would also pay the 2% transaction fee: about $720 more a year.
How much does it cost to build a Squarespace website with a designer?
Squarespace is built for doing it yourself, but many owners hire a designer. Golden Launch Creative puts typical ranges at:
- Entry level: $1,000 to $3,000 (template customization, limited revisions)
- Mid range: $4,000 to $8,000 (semi-custom layouts, light SEO help)
- High end: $10,000 to $20,000+ (UX strategy, custom layouts, wireframes)
By Crawford, another Squarespace studio, lists simple builds starting at $3,500. On top of that you still pay the plan and add-ons every year, and changes after launch are either your job or billed separately. Ongoing care is its own cost; see our guide to website maintenance costs.
Squarespace pricing vs Wix and other options
Squarespace and Wix are priced in a similar range: Playcode's October 2026 comparison lists Wix from $17 a month on a yearly plan against $19 for Squarespace. The right pick depends more on how you work than on a few dollars a month.
The bigger choice is between doing it yourself and having it done for you:
| Squarespace, DIY | Squarespace + designer | Built for you on a subscription (Buildly Essential) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up-front cost | $0 | ~$1,000 to $20,000+ | $100 setup fee; initial build at no extra charge |
| Ongoing cost | $228 to $1,188 a year, plus add-ons | Same, plus designer time for changes | $35/month launch price (regular $60), or $420/year |
| Who builds it | You | The designer | Buildly |
| Hosting | Included | Included | Included (shared hosting, upgradeable) |
| Changes after launch | You make them | Billed separately | 2 change requests per year included |
| Owning the site | Stays on Squarespace | Stays on Squarespace | You own the source code and database after 12 months |
Having your website built for you
If you would rather not build and maintain the site yourself, Buildly designs, builds, hosts, and maintains it on a monthly subscription. You send a free brief, get a written scope and price, and approve each stage: scope, wireframes, design, build, and launch.
The Essential plan is for small, clearly scoped sites like a business website with a contact form or a simple booking page: $35/month launch price (regular $60), which you keep for as long as you stay subscribed, or $420 a year, plus a $100 setup fee. It includes hosting, 5 GB of storage, and 2 change requests a year, and you own the source code and database after 12 months. Sites with accounts, a shop with cart and checkout, or more workflows fit the larger plans, from the prices on our pricing page. The contract is month to month after the plan's commitment.
For a simple site, Squarespace on your own is cheaper on paper. A built-for-you site makes sense when your time is worth more than the difference, or when you would otherwise be paying a designer. Send a brief and you get a written scope and price before you commit to anything.
The short version
- Squarespace costs $19 to $99 a month on annual billing in the US, or $25 to $139 month to month (as of October 2026).
- Core is the sensible default for most businesses: no transaction fee on products and services, and one free mailbox for the first year.
- Budget for card processing (2.5% to 2.9% + 30¢), the domain from year two, email, and Scheduling if you take bookings.
- Treat Black Friday deals as a first-year saving and plan for the renewal price.
Frequently asked questions

Doing it yourself costs only the plan: $19 to $99 a month on annual billing in the US as of October 2026, plus a domain after the first year, email, and any add-ons. Hiring a designer typically adds $1,000 to $3,000 for a customized template and $4,000 to $20,000 or more for custom work, according to Golden Launch Creative.
How much is Squarespace per month?
In the US, Basic is $25 a month billed monthly or $19 billed annually, Core is $39 or $29, Plus is $65 or $49, and Advanced is $139 or $99. Annual billing saves roughly 24% to 29% and includes a free domain for the first year.
Can I use my own domain with Squarespace?
Yes. You can connect a domain you already own to any plan, or register one through Squarespace. Annual plans include one year of free registration on an eligible domain, after which it renews at the standard rate.
Can I upgrade my Squarespace plan later?
Yes, you can move to a higher plan as your needs grow, for example from Basic to Core once you start selling. On the fees alone, Core pays for itself compared with Basic once you sell more than about $6,000 a year in products or services.
Does Squarespace charge transaction fees?
Basic charges 2% on product and service sales and 7% on digital content and memberships. Core removes the product fee and charges 5% on digital sales, Plus charges 1% on digital sales, and Advanced charges none. Card processing (2.5% to 2.9% + 30¢ with Squarespace Payments) applies on every plan.
